Free advertising for small businesses and nonprofits

Google Ad Grants, TV and streaming ad grants, new-advertiser credits and donated billboard space: every verified way to get free advertising, who qualifies and how to claim it.

Updated October 16, 2026 · 26 programs you can use now

The best-known free advertising program is Google Ad Grants: up to $10,000 a month in Google Search ads for eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits. It isn't the only one. Spectrum Reach gives local businesses up to $15,000 in TV and streaming advertising, Lamar Advertising donates billboard space to nonprofits for public service messages, and Snapchat, Roku and others add free credit to a new advertiser's first spend.

Credits and donated media are spent on the company's own platform rather than paid out in cash, and new-advertiser offers only apply to a brand-new account. We checked every offer below on the company's own website.

Common questions

Can a for-profit business get Google Ad Grants?
No. Ad Grants is only for eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits. A for-profit business can use the Google Ads new-advertiser offer instead, which adds credit after you spend a set amount in your first 60 days.
Are "spend $X, get $Y" credits worth it?
They stretch your first budget on a platform you were going to try anyway. Don't spend just to unlock a credit: the money you put in first is real, and the credit expires.
What's the difference between an ad grant and an ad credit?
An ad grant, like Google's or Spectrum Reach's, is advertising you apply for and are awarded without paying. An ad credit is usually a new-customer offer that matches part of what you spend.
