Montana ag businesses, individuals, cooperatives and others with value-added agriculture projects can get grants up to $50,000 (plus loans up to $100,000) with a 1:1 cash match for equipment, consultants, promotion and similar costs. Pre-applications are due Nov 9, 2026.
GTA provides grants and loans to strengthen and diversify Montana agriculture, funding projects that add value to Montana agricultural products and create or retain jobs, with eligible costs such as equipment, consultant services, travel, advertising and promotion, and supplies. Grants are capped at $50,000 and loans at $100,000 per application (max $150,000 total), paid on a reimbursement basis with a 50% ($1-for-$1) cash cost-share. The FY2027 pre-application opened October 5, 2026 and is due by 5:00 pm November 9, 2026. Invited applicants then submit full applications by February 8, 2027.
Proposals accepted from individuals, businesses and industry organizations, public and private agencies and organizations, educational institutions, local governments, cooperatives and non-profits
Projects should primarily add value to Montana's agricultural products and have the potential to create and/or retain jobs in Montana
Organizations other than sole proprietorships must be registered with the Montana Secretary of State before applying
A $1 for $1 match is required for all proposals
An applicant that receives any two GTA grants within a two-year period has a one-year cooling-off period
