Alabama Forestry CommissionCloses Oct 22, 2026(2 days left)Up to $10,000

Summary

Non-industrial private forest landowners in Alabama, including jointly owned land held by a corporation or association, can be reimbursed $100/acre (commercial) or $300/acre (non-commercial) for approved pine thinning that prevents southern pine beetle outbreaks, up to $10,000 per landowner.

About this grant

The Alabama Forestry Commission offers cost-share reimbursement, funded by temporary USDA Forest Service grants, to eligible non-industrial private forest landowners who thin loblolly or shortleaf pine stands to prevent southern pine beetle outbreaks. Commercial thinning pays $100 per acre (plus $20 per acre for borax treatment on stands rated high for annosus root rot), and non-commercial thinning pays $300 per acre, up to $10,000 per landowner. Only approved applicants who thin after approval are reimbursed. The application portal lists the program as ending October 22, 2026 (Central time).
