Does this fit your business?

This is an NIH research grant for scientists studying the biological and genetic causes of cancer health disparities, not a business funding program. It fits labs, universities, and research-capable small businesses doing mechanistic cancer research. If you want money to grow or operate a company, or you cannot run a basic research study, do not apply.

Best for
Biomedical research labs studying the biological or genetic causes of cancer health disparities, Universities and research institutions with basic cancer research programs, Small businesses and for-profits doing mechanistic cancer research or building research tools and models, Tribal organizations and governments with research capacity in cancer health disparities
Not for
Businesses looking for working capital, product development, or commercialization funding, Organizations wanting to run clinical trials or deliver health services, Applicants without a research team or scientific background in cancer biology

Open to small businesses, for-profits, universities, nonprofits, tribal entities, and state/local governments; clinical trials not allowed.

About this grant

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) encourages grant applications from investigators interested in conducting basic, mechanistic research into the biological/genetic causes of cancer health disparities. These research project grants will support innovative studies designed to investigate biological/genetic bases of cancer health disparities, such as (1) mechanistic studies of biological factors associated with cancer health disparities, including those related to basic research in cancer biology or cancer prevention strategies, (2) the development and testing of new methodologies and models, and (3) secondary data analyses. This NOFO is also designed to aid and facilitate the growth of a nationwide cohort of scientists with a high level of basic research expertise in cancer health disparities research who can expand available resources and tools, such as biospecimens, patient derived models, and methods that are necessary to conduct basic research in cancer health disparities.
